Six short stories explore facets of dominance and submission, in which independent women put themselves in the strong hands of dominant men. Both men and women find their needs met through the safe, sane, and consensual exchange of power, pain, and pleasure.

The stories range in location and time from the mid-twentieth century until today, and from Latin America to the American West and the great port cities of the coasts. The characters include hipsters and ranchers, school teachers and artists, tourists and professionals.

Here’s the opening paragraph of the title story:

The lover pursued her in the darker corners of the internet, with messages of lust and love, of taking with force that which is given freely. He asked after her day, and spoke of finances, jobs, and children. He learned the color of her underwear, and how she did her hair. What perfumes she used, and how she slept. She warmed to him slowly at first, and then melted. Ice in the spring sun melts slower. Snowflakes in a blast furnace might last longer.

The collection is about 15,000 words and each story is illustrated with safe-for-work art.
