Strange and Beautiful is the first book in a new series from JoAnne Kenrick – Tales from the Coffin. This short story introduces Estella, Vampire Queen of the Rejected, and her sometimes-faithful subject and lover Lucy Rotterdayne – a zombie better known as Lucy Rot. The two of them have loved men in the past, but are now together and shunning men. A coincidence? I think not.

Strange and Beautiful is a very unique short story. It’s written as though Estella is talking directly to you, the reader, as if you were in the room with her. The story itself is a mixture of humour, the supernatural and erotica. It’s very well done and I really enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to further tales from Estella and Lucy – and if quirky supernatural erotica is your thing, you should check this series out too.
